pattern consists of two similar parts; one to represent the Heaven and the other
the Earth.

Chon-Ji is also the name of a crater lake on the top of the Paektu Mountain (also spelled Baekchu). Its location there also symbolizes the beginning.

Only after a student has practiced it hundreds of times and has begun to learn other patterns, mental, physical, and spiritual lessons will that student begin to really appreciate Chon-Ji for what it has to offer.
The Korean Navy had four types of cannons, designated Ch'on, Chi, Hyon and Hwang (Heaven, Earth, Black and Yellow). The largest cannon, Ch'on, weighed 660 pounds and had a bore diameter of 5.5 inches. It's maximum range was around a couple of hundred yards.
